Swoon Block #5

This block, for some reason, gave me a lot more grief than the other 4. Something odd seems to be going on with my machine. Everything was great for the first 4, then I changed my needle and for some reason I just couldn't get the tension right after that. My seams were a bit puckery (not too bad, but definitely not nice and flat like they should have been or like the first 4 blocks were) so I spent a lot of time yesterday fiddling with my machine and I think I sort of have it sorted out, but it's definitely not perfect. I may need to take it in for a service and see what's up. This block just didn't go together quite as easily or precisely, but oh well. Onward!! More than halfway done the blocks!

Fabric: Hometown by Sweetwater for Moda
Prints used in this block: "Barbershop" in the colour Stop Sign (red dots) and "Cross Town" in the colour Sky (light blue)

Looks great! When my tension unexpectedly goes crazy I've learned to first rethread the machine. Usually the problem stems from some mishap with the threading. Or, possibly the bobbin tension got outta whack. Hope you get it figured out!

Gorgeous! I hope you have figured out your tension issues. I was having trouble and nothing seemed to help. I ended up unscrewing the top of my machine. I found a stray thread in there. It always seems to be inconvenient.

Have you tried re-treading your bobbin? When was the last time you cleaned and oiled your machine? There are some great DIY cleaning vids on youtube. Just search your machines brand and cleaning.
