I hope you don't mind another FMQ post! I now have a stack of good-for-nothing practice sandwiches that have accumulated on my ironing board, which is all fine and good but I wanted to try FMQ on an actual....something.
A few days ago I took out some scraps and made a little drunkard's path block, which turned out cute but I did not enjoy that process. Maybe something that gets easier as you do it? Well I wasn't itching to do anymore d.p. blocks right at that moment so I took the one I made, framed it with some plain white cotton flour sack material and finished it off with some free motion, and I have to say, I like it!! It was tricky, because I was purposely using thread that would blend (as opposed to thread that was strongly contrasting as I did on my practice pieces) I had a really hard time seeing where I had been and where I still needed to go. Also I started in the middle which was maybe not the best place to start. But in the end I am happy with it. I still have lots of learning to do, my stitches vary quite a bit in length, but for the most part my tension is okay and I'm starting to get more comfortable with the feel of it all, so I'm happy! This little one measures in at about 11"x11".

what a fun mini! i really do need to try my hand at fmq some time :)
good job!! Even though there's a few patterns I'm somewhat comfortable fmq-ing, stippling is not one of them. So congrats - I'm impressed! ;-)
This looks great! You've made a lot of progress in not much time!
Your stippling looks great, especially with the drunkard's path! Laura (at Quokka) has me convinced to start learning how to FMQ, so I am happy to see how much success you've had. :)
I love the mini. I need to make me another one and try to do more FMQ. I have ordered a extension table to see if that helps my last try was scary.

Make sure you stop by and put your guess in my quilt givaway by guessing my babys B-day or Birth Weight.
Your quilting is lovely : ) I am going to attempt that block this week....I am finally giving curves a try! Thanks for the inspiration.
This is adorable! You did a great job with your FMQ...TFS!

Very, very nice! You're ready for more!
It looks so good Heather!!
I think the more you practice, the better you get! I love the Drunkard's Path pattern...it's really fun!
Very cute!!
I love DP blocks, must make more - it does get easier!!
(any chance you'd think about turning your word verification off since they've made it even worse??!)
I love the block! It's something I haven't tried yet...sewing curves that is. It looks great. You did so well. I couldn't tell you didn't like sewing them.
I love your fabric choices and placement. That is really a fun mini!
Your mini looks lovely, curved seams and FMQ you didn't make it easy for yourself, did you?:)
Love this mini Heather - I haven't really tried to do much curved piecing or FMQ so you are encouraging me to try.
I am a big fan of DP blocks...I have a small stack leftover from a QAL. You have inspired me to do something with them, thanks! Smiles~Beth
