W.I.P. Wednesday

I was away all weekend without sewing, so I haven't worked on anything, probably since Friday.  But between last Wednesday's post and now, I have some progress to report.

First off, I made a pleated wristlet to go with the outfit I wore to my cousin's wedding on the weekend.  The pattern is great, very well written and straight forward.  I recommend it!

I started in on a plus quilt using Kate Spain Joy paired with Kona Ash.  This will end up being a lap size when all is said and done.  I'm really realizing that I don't love the Joy fabric, a little too overtly Christmas-y for me, which is maybe why I've had such trouble getting anything going with it (and why it will be lap size and not full size!).  But the plus quilt is really turning out cute and I'm excited about it.

And lucky lucky me, I get to work with this amazing bundle of fabric to make a Fussy Fairytales quilt for my friend's daughter.

The majority of these fabrics are 'Pretty Little Things' along with a few extra quirky prints, some Heather Ross and some others.  The stack of Kona solids are for the skinny frame borders in the blocks, and the main background colour will be Kona Snow (not pictured).  I'm really looking forward to digging into this, figuring out which fabrics to pair together and get sewing!

Have a great week everyone.

Your plus quilt is looking great, Heather! I have a hard time with really Christmas-y fabric, too. But what a fun pile of fabrics for your next quilt!!

THe little bag is perfect. Need to bookmark it...
I am not crazy about Christmas fabrics either.. and I have a jelly roll of Joy too. I have a pattern in mind but not really the focus to get started on it. Glad we'll have Christmas next year again :)

The Joy plus quilt is coming along nicely! I'm still having a hard time with this fabric too. I thought I liked it when I bought it, but I think it's a little too cutesy for my taste to be excited about it. Oh well.

Every finished quilt I have seen out of Joy I have loved - so maybe once you get it done you'll like it better. Love how its looking right now!

Love the plus quilt! I like that the kona ash makes it a little more muted.

I am loving your plus quilt! It's funny, I have a layer cake of..what was her Christmas line from last year? Flurry, I think? Anyway, I bought it to make a Christmas tree skirt for my brother last year, and ended up doing something COMPLETELY different. So I have this poor layer cake, and I'll be honest, I'm not in love with it either. I keep trying to come up with something to do with it, but nothing has really made me excited to use it yet. Your plus quilt is inspiring, though! And I'm loving it with the Ash. My kids would LOVE a quilt so christmas-y and fun! :)

Super cute wristlet. I love the color you chose too. I have a stack of Joy charms - less enthused now - maybe I will spread it out over multiple projects so it isn't so much Christmas!
Thanks for sharing and happy sewing!
