I-Spy Charm Quilt

I was feeling in a rut this week, wanting to work on something but having a hard time deciding what.  In the end I pulled out a charm pack that I won in a giveaway on Marian's blog months ago and decided to put them together into a simple patchwork quilt.  It's pretty small, only 26.5" x 39", so I'd say stroller size.  This quilt is now for sale in my Etsy shop.

There are many super cute fabrics in here, as you can see!  I'm not one to purchase or collect novelty fabrics, so it was a lot of fun to receive such a variety.  Lately I've seen several examples of 'orange peel quilting' (here and here in particular) and knew I'd love to try it.  This quilt uses much larger squares than the examples I'd seen, but it works even on a big scale.  I did the quilting with my walking foot.  Hopefully you can see it a bit better in this photo......

Sticking with the novelty theme, I found a really cute carrot fabric for the backing and I think it really suits.  And not sticking with the novelty theme, I bound the quilt in a white on white print, which is really hard to see in the photo but it reminds me of O's or bubbles, so still cute but much more subtle!

I will be linking up with Finish it up Friday @ Crazy Mom Quilts.

What a cheerful little quilt! I really enjoy orange peel quilting, but I've only done it with my free motion quilt. I'm in the middle of using that pattern on a triangle quilt (here: http://sparrowlanequilts.blogspot.com/2013/03/triangle-orange-peel-quilting.html ) and love the slightly different results.
