During the past week or so I went from this....
to this.....
to this.....
to this.....
I have to say, this turned out much more crazy busy than I expected! I have mixed feelings about it. It's scrappy and colourful and fun, but I just wish that the shape of the neutral areas was more pronounced. I'll have to think carefully about how to quilt this and I hope to come up with something that will give more visual impact to those neutral areas.
We're heading into spring break here soon, and I have a few work days before the week is through, so I don't know when I'll get to the next stage with this project. For now it will hang on the livingroom wall until I get back to it.
Have a great week everyone.

oh look at you!! Very very fun!
Its beautiful, I like it!
How fun! I think this is one of those projects that you will like much more once it is completed, but I think it is great :)
Wow! Dense quilting in the neutrals could help highlight the design? I really like it!
I think they show fine! There is lots to keep a persons eye moving around the quilt, and that's good. Quilt away ; )
I love the subtle contrast between the blocks! It looks wonderful to me!
I ♥ these pictures!
They really show the process.
I love your finished quilt. I like that the neutral and not-so-neutral areas aren't clearly defined. My eyes keep moving over the top, finding some pops of colour and some defined edges, and dimension, and ... well. I like it. It shimmers.
I REALLY love this Heather!! To me, the neutral areas really stand out. It's fab!
It's lovely, Heather!
Just a fabulous assortment of colors, and the neutral areas are perfect.
I love it! I can see the pattern formed by the neutrals. I think once it's quilted, everything will feel a bit more cohesive. This makes me want to do more HSTs!
It's awesome! Love the boldness. I think I know what you mean about the neutral areas - but only for a moment. Then I love it as is because the subtlety is great. I'm very much looking forward to see what you make with the quilting-wise.
It is really lovely!!! The block pattern doesn't stand out so strongly but it really does have such a happy vibe. I love it!
Looks great - and the quilting will lend to the separation of bold and neutral. Pretty collection of scrappy fabrics.
It's so fun! I love all the design possibilities with HSTs. I think attention to your negative space with the quilting lines may help highligt them more if that is what you're wanting to achieve. Great looking quilt so far!!
Such a great layout for your HST's - I really love the pattern formed by the neutrals!
I love it! It is super energetic and graphic!
I think the neutral areas show up fine and have a lot of movement. I love all the different shades you chose! It's beautiful!
beautiful colors. I just finished at 370 HST quilt! I feel your pain about the fussiness of trimming etc. But in the end totally worth it! Gorgeous!
I love it! Fun project.
I love this quilt top! It is very fun to look at! I like the contrast between the colorful prints and the gray & white solids. I agree with Erica, you'll probably feel better about it when it is completed!
well done
I really REALLY like this one!
holy cow, it's fantastic! i think you can totally define the neutral space with quilting, you'll rock it! oh im in love. go you.
This will look far less crazy busy when you get more blocks up there and the light/dark has more room to breathe. It's gorgeous, actually.
Heather I love all of those HSTs! The ratio of solids to prints is fantastic. Thanks for sharing
Wow! I really love it! The neutral areas make the prints pop so much. It's a great mix.
this is stunning!
but I don't know how you handle all that trimming! gah! Beautiful project!
