I'm baaaack!

And guess what I'm working on?  Yup, the Octagonal Orb quilt.  Still.  It's the only thing I'm working on right now and I was actually getting a bit tired of the monotony of it, but in the last few days I've gotten back in the groove and I've sewn more this week than I did the whole month of July.  So, progress.....half of the blocks now look like this:

Trimmed, assembled into rows, and 2.5" (2" finished) sashing added.  Some of the blocks look like this:

....and this:

Two blocks still look like this:

And much to my chagrin after searching and searching my piles, sure that I had already assembled pieces like the one above for all 12 blocks, I realized that I am two blocks short.  That might explain the set of 2.5" cut strips that I still have and thought were extras.  haha  So not quite as far along as I thought, but definitely getting there.

More progress soon, and maybe one day I'll have something to show other than this quilt.  I did pick up a Comma jelly roll when we were on holidays and my gears are turning already, thinking of things to do with it.

I'm looking forward to catching back up with everyone now that we're home.

It does seem to be one of those summers where sewing gets put on the back burner! It's nice to see you back at it and your Octagonal Orb is looking delicious! Wonder what we will see come out of the Comma jellyroll! :-)

Welcome home! your orbs are looking beautiful, but I'm sorry to hear your 'extra' strips are actually required ones. Bummer!

Don't you hate when you think you get extras only to realize that you're actually short? At least you didn't use them for something else!
Can't wait to see the orbs getting finished up and excited to see what you do with Comma!
