Last week I set a goal to have my Roller Rink quilt top finished by today, and I'm happy to say that I'm 99% of the way there. Not quite 100% because of the last long seam that I have left for now - my sneaky plan is to leave it until the moment I'm ready to baste in order to avoid having to press the top in its entirety again. This way I can press each of the two chunks really well, sew the seam and then get right to basting.
My local Fabricland is having a 50% members sale this weekend so I hope to pick up backing fabric and get down to quilting by next week. Looking forward to moving into the next phase with this project, but a little nervous cause this thing is HUGE. Not the biggest quilt I've made, but definitely the biggest that I've attempted free motion quilting on, if I decide to go that route. Still waffling between some geometric FMQ ideas, and the good old walking foot.
Also today I started my first version of the Have It All Wallet - sort of a "test" version using some random yellow & gray FQs I have. If all goes well I'll move onto a second wallet with fabrics more to my liking that I'll love to make use of every day.
Have a good week everyone!

That is a monster of a quilt Heather! I like the sound of geometric shapes for the quilting! Good luck with your backing shopping!
That last seam is always the worst, but the quilt is beautiful! I'm excited to see this quilted, it's going to be gorgeous :)
wow what a wonderful quilt, love the design and colors
Your quilt is looking fabulous so far! I'm interested to hear how you like the wallet. It has been on my list to make for a while, but haven't had time yet. I know you'll give an honest review!
such a gorgeous quilt. I can't wait to see it all finished :-)
Geometric quilting sounds awesome for this beauty! Can't wait to see it finished up! And i have also been wanting to give that wallet a try, hoping you'll post some feedback with pics when you're done!
Wow beautiful quilt. Can't wait to see it all quilted!
Your quilt is looking amazing, I look forward to seeing how you quilt it.
Quilting is always a challenge. I've no doubt you will do something amazing!
Agreed! This looks SO good - can't wait to see next week!
I can see why you wouldn't want to iron this puppy twice! It's really fabulous, congrats on the progress.
Your quilt looks great--love all of the grays!
I like the geometric FMQ shapes idea. @jaceynotjc on Instagram recently posted some FMQ triangles...something like that would be cool! Yay for the wallet!
Your quilt looks awesome - I love the grey sashing!
Stopping by from WIP Wednesday!
Very appealing combination of brights and grays. With so much going on in the piecing, I'd lean toward minimalist quilting with the walking foot.
Love the quilt! Grey makes those brights SHINE! will be back to see how your wallet turns out...
Love your quilt! Great pattern and all that scrumptious Comma fabric! When I took on the task of quilting a queen size quilt on my domestic machine, I stippled the entire thing. Quite a work out but seemed to be the sanest approach. Have fun!
LOVE the quilt and it totally deserves some fmq! Geometric sounds cool. You will ace that wallet pattern and I'm here if you need someone to give that 'test' version too ;)
Love the grey sashing with the Comma fabric - the wallet looks fab too!
I LOVE your fabric choices for your quilt!!
I have both of Elizabeth Hartman's books too. So far I've made a Kitchen Windows quilt and I've got the fabrics cut for Escape Artist. I might have bitten off more than I can chew with that one....
I've read the pattern for Roller Rink a million times but have never had the courage or follow-through to make it. It looks amazing.
What a fabulous quilt! Just discovered you through the Blogathon, looking forward to that 'party'.
Oh, I love how your Comma quilt is turning out! Looks like it's going to be huge. Just more to love! Good luck on finishing up the top.
Oh wow, I didn't really appreciate how big this quilt is until now! It really looks great though - good luck for the quilting!
