A Winner! and a few random thoughts...

{Is this totally dorky or what...I took a photo of my computer screen in order to show the random.org results....so far haven't figured out a better way. Though I have had some suggestions, I have been able to make none of them work. This does the job though, hey?}

The two Hometown blocks offered up earlier this week are going to commenter #6, none other than Lucy!! One of my lovely faithful readers and commenters from the UK! Congratulations, Lucy. :) I will email you shortly.

Now, two random questions for you all this Friday.

1. Do you ever quilt with 100% polyester batting? I decided to give it a try with this quilt because quite frankly it's so much cheaper, and the charity I am going to mail the quilt to accepts poly batting, and hey, why not try something new? But now that it's basted, I'm a little concerned. It's really....poofy. And this isn't even the stuff labeled "high loft". Here's hoping it's not a disaster.

And now the earth shattering question of the day.....

2. Would you wear PJ's to bring your kids to school? And I'm not talking about just throwing a coat on over your PJ's to drive them, never actually leaving the car, because I will admit that I have done that, but actually going inside the school in your PJ's. I saw someone at school this morning like that, and it made me think, REALLY???? Am I alone in this?

Please comment and let me know. Happy Friday!!!!

Congrats to Lucy! That's great!! And on to your questions...
1. no, cuz I'm not into puffy. I really love using cotton with cotton fabrics.
2. for sure I would not. You are not alone! ;-0

COngrats to the winner! Oh, how jealous am I!

I use Warm and Natural... I love it!

And to me, jammies means no bra. Well, enough said. I shower, dress, makeup, hair, and coffee every morning. Starts my day off right. Oh, I also bra ;o)

Congratulations, Lucy! I have used poly batting, but am not really a fan for the puffiness alone. I don't really remember there being much of a problem with the actual quilting, but I prefer cotton so much more. And I would never go anywhere in my PJs, and get annoyed when I see people in stores that are wearing theirs. Is it really that hard to throw on a pair of real pants?

Congratulations to Lucy! darn it, I was number 5! hee hee! ;)

I have never used poly batting, let us know how you like it.

I have never gone in my pj's...now I have thrown on a pair of stretchy work out pants to make it look like I got dressed for the day! dang I would be too scared if I got in an accident and had to stand outside my vehicle in my pj's or something! loo I am with you though...it doesn't take much to put on a pair of pants :)

i've used poly and liked the loft, but it was for a hand quilted quilt - no way would i want to push all that thickness around on my machine!!!

congratulations to Lucy. I have seen people shopping in their pj's before: I would die of shame! My daughter did once start to go over to the shops in her pj bottoms and then realised that she hadn;t finished getting dresses!

Congrats to Lucy! I have used poly but much prefer coton. I would never ever leave the house in my PJs. Like someone else said - PJs mean no bra and no underwear for me so no way I'm going to be seen out in public like that!

Congratulations to Lucy! :)

I used poly in my early days, but I so much prefer the thinness of cotton or wool, so I stick with that.

I drive my munchkin to school in my jammies, and my biggest fear is something will happen and I'll have to get out of the car in my pj pants. Seriously, that would horrify me more than getting into a car accident on school grounds!

Like so many others, warm and natural is my way to go. As far as PJs, I'd wear them if I know I only drop the kids off and don't need to get out. A bra is a must, though. Actually, my kids would be more horrified to see me in my PJs at school than I would.

Poly is too shifty for me - doesn't stay basted well, and I don't care for the puffy look.

I am embarrassed enough if I go out in my "comfy pants" and running shoes so no, I would definitely not wear my pj's in public.

As for your initial question, there are a couple of free programs out there for doing screencaps. I like (and use) Jing.

Someone gave mw two huge rolls of poly batting once. I donated one to a charity quilting group and kept one. I've bee slowly chipping away at the roll. I hate quilting with it and sometimes get folds in my backing which is really annoying, but whenever I make a quilt for my kids hey always request the "puffy" batting. Pjs are not appropriate outside the home/car I agree, but boy do I like to wear em once it starts to get dark out!

First, there is a tutorial on my Blog about the random number image. Second, I. only use warm & white, but I bought a whole bolt with my mom when I had a Joann's coupon, so it was a great deal! And even though I don't have kids in school, I don't leave the house in anything less than sweats, and I won't get out of the car if I am only wearing sweats! But don't think me too put together, I usually don't wear makeup either!

1) I use nothing but cotton.
2) Nope, I would never wear pj's to drop the kids off. I've never even worn them out of the house!

hahaha!!! NO! I wouldn't wear my PJ's - I would at least throw on some sweats and a t-shirt (a bra IS mandatory...lol). :)

I've never quilted with a poly bat. I use 100% cotton, but really it's just because that's what I'm used to on the long arm and am afraid to try anything else. I'm a total weenie!

:)

Can't stop grinning!! I'm so excited that I won - you know I've loved all the things you've made with this fabric line and now I get to have some!!! :)
Never used 100% poly, don't really like the puffy look. And the PJs thing is hilarious!! Where my sister lives the local shop banned people from going in wearing their PJs because so many people were doing it!!! hahahaha!

I try to stick to all natural fibers, especially if it is something people will be laying under :-) For a craft project, I might go poly if it seemed like it would be appropriate.

I would NEVER get out of my car in PJs unless I was in the middle of the desert and I saw a big bag of money sitting by the side of the road. Walking around in PJs is a line that I will not cross (but I just saw someone doing their weekly shopping at WalMart wearing theirs - crazy!

Congratulations Lucy!
I've only once used poly wadding and I hated it! I tend to go for 80/20 most of the time!
No, definitely not PJ's for the school run! often wellies though!

I've used the polyester before (love those $11 for the ROLL) and regretted it.. its just not as great a quality let alone working with it quilting wise. I only use it now if i'm tying a quilt..
