A Walk in the Woods

Seriously, this fabric is too cute.  In cutting, I accidentally mostly omitted the little foxes which is a shame, only catching a few tails on the side seams, but a happy accident was that little red riding hood wound up front and center!

This is the "Snack Size" version of Jeni's lined drawstring bag pattern.  The pattern includes eight size versions, as well as instructions for making a custom size bag.  Totally worth the $6.50, I think.  There is also a free tutorial on her blog for a version that finishes at 10" tall.  The Snack Size, pictured above, finishes at 8" tall.

Very cute little mushrooms, no?  All three fabrics used are from the "A Walk in the Woods" line by Aneela Hoey.  This little bag is going to my 2yr old niece, and I thought this fabric was perfect for a sweet little girl!

The bag finishes with a fair bit of space between the drawstring casing and the top of the bag, which forms this nice little ruffle when closed.  Love it!  For the drawstrings on this one I followed the instructions in the pattern for making them out of fabric.  It worked pretty well, but next time (as I'm sure there will be a next time!) I will use regular ribbon or twill tape for the ties, just so there is a little less bulk having to pass through the casing.  Otherwise, this pattern is great and now that I have made a few {mini version here}, it's very easy and intuitive.  I highly recommend it!

I keep telling myself I have to make these bags! You're right, Aneela's fabric is just too cute. I'll keep your suggestion in mind to use twill tape.
