Imagine my surprise...

Not really having anything in the works at the moment, other than waiting on Mr. Mailman, what's a quilter to do?  Throw the darning foot on the machine and see how it goes!  I have done very little free motion quilting, in fact I haven't even practiced since I finished my Sparkle quilt in March.  So imagine my surprise when I could actually do it!

I even tried some pebbles - fun and so easy .....

I've been so inspired lately, seeing so many quilters do beautiful free motion quilting on their home machines - in particular Megan and Katie.  They, and many others, have been reading Angela Walter's new book which I'd love to get my hands on too, at least just to have a look through.  Maybe on my next project you'll be seeing some FMQ!

Gosh, that looks great, Heather! I have loved seeing so many people breaking out their FMQ lately and definitely want to try more myself. As soon as I find my gloves I'm going to try a few. Can't wait to see more from you!

I LOVE the pebbles, yours look really great, but really have been afraid to try them. I have a quilt they'd be perfect on, too......

I think sometimes the brian just needs a chance to process something like FMQ, then when we come back to it, its like "wow- I can do this!" A bit of a 'ah-ha' moment! Your pebbles are great!

well hey, there ya go! i tried quilting a pillow cover i just made and it did NOT go well. Although i think it has more to do with tension and machine issues than my natural talent... maybe one of these days I'll invest in a decent machine, one that isn't 50 years old!
