Boy, does it feel good to get these unfinished projects crossed off the list! This one goes back to April - I first posted about it here. It was my first time using a jelly roll, and my first time using the strip tube method. The top came together really quickly, then I stalled out. I wasn't loving the brown/blue scheme and I think that's the biggest reason why I set it aside. Other more colourful things to work on!
Yet here we have it, a finished quilt! I was very fortunate in that I was one of two winners of a giveaway on Chelsea's blog, to have her long arm quilt this for me! We talked about a few different ideas, and in the end I just let her decide and I love it. I think she did a great job and it is just so FUN. Echoed triangles in varying densities, with a little swirl in the middle of each, and along each of the long vertical edges, pebbles. Some are SO teeny, and all look perfectly round.
I hummed and hawed about what to do for backing fabric. I really didn't want to go with brown, so I looked into many different options, even considered using a sheet, but in the end I decided to stop resisting and managed to find someone on Etsy who had 4yds of the beige pin stripe from this same line, so that's what I went with. I still don't love brown, but in this context, it's growing on me a bit!
And finally, the binding. Since I was using Kona Snow for the main background colour, I didn't want to use the jelly roll strips that were very light in colour for the triangles. I set those aside to use for the binding and it worked out great. A little variety around the edge, and it all blends so nicely.
The quilt finished at about 48" x 66" which is just great. The other two quilts I'd made for our living room are a bit on the small side and don't get used very much. This one is just about the perfect size. And even though I still don't love the colours, I think we're going to keep it!

I personally love the colour scheme. Brown and blue is just the best. Also, remember that browns don't really show dirt all that much! Is it starting to grow on you??

Your quilting is outstanding! It really makes the quilt. The browns make a nice background for showcasing your wonderful quilting.

I feel your pain with brown, sister. I think there is enough blue and white to overcome it, though and with the great quilting, it looks perfectly cozy for the couch!

You and Chelsea did such a nice job with this! It's lovely! I know that brown and blue can be a hard palette to work with without it becoming dull, but this has a lot of visual interest with the variation in the prints and in the values.
