Fairytales progress, and a photography tip!

I finally got down on the kitchen floor yesterday and basted Fussy Fairytales.  It was quite the process.  I used every single safety pin I own, including a new package of 75.  I don't think I've ever pin basted a quilt this big.  But it's done, and now on to quilting.  A photography tip.  I'm a point & shoot girl, but reading this post from 'Secondhand Dinosaur' about exposure compensation made me realize just how little I know about even my very basic camera.

First photo I took - regular indoor mode, unedited, no flash:

Second photo, exact same setting, no flash, but with some exposure compensation added:

Such a difference!!  I realize that I may have over-done it a bit, this second photo seems over-exposed to me, but I wonder how much grief I could have saved myself over dark photos with this simple camera change.  Especially on these dark & dreary winter days.

Just a reminder, today is the last day to enter on my Giveaway Day post, as well as the hundred of other giveaways being offered on the Sew Mama Sew blog.  This evening I will be drawing a winner!

Thanks for the photography tip! I have been adjusting white balance and that helps a tad, but things are still funky... I will be sure to give this a try!

Now to stop being lazy and using the iPhone instead of my point & shoot...

Great photography tip! I tend to overexposed as well, I like 'sunny' looking pictures!

Interesting tip! I've been thinking about just taking a local photography class. I have a "fancy" camera but no idea how to use it. And today was definitely a dark and dreary photo shoot day! (Also, that yellow looks cheerful no matter what!)

It looks great and well done on all that pinning!
I'm dreading doing any basting because I'm not sure I'll be able to get up off the floor ;)
Thanks for the link, you've just saved me loads of time messing around with the exposure on the computer!
