W.I.P. Wednesday

I actually have some things to share this week!  I've been in a bit of a rut lately and I think it's that I just don't know what to make.  Too many choices!  Once I get going, no problem, but it's the getting going that I've struggled with lately.  First off, a finish....

Hexagon bathmat, blogged here.  It's been tested and seems great - dries faster than I thought it would so that's good.  Only issue I have is this.  I put it through the laundry today and it shrunk and wrinkled up a LOT.  Could be because the fabric was not pre-washed and the towel backing had been washed many many times?  So I kind of had to stretch it out and lay it flat to dry, which seems a bit too high maintenance for a bathmat but I guess we'll see how it goes.  In the future for this type of project I'd use all pre-washed materials.

Next up, the Grandma love quilt receiving the Grandma inspection.  :)

She's always been a crafter - sewing, knitting, quilting, etc., so I'm glad that my work passed her test!

And now, a new work in progress.....

I won an "I-Spy" charm pack in a blog giveaway months and months ago and finally decided to do something with them, sewing them into a small quilt top today.  Small, like stroller-size or play mat size?  It's not perfectly pieced - I think I struggle more with simple patchwork than with things more complicated.  Is it just me??  There are some super super cute fabrics in here though and I'm looking forward to finishing it up and getting it in the Etsy shop.

And finally for today, my new extension table!  I haven't had a chance to use it for quilting yet to see how that goes, but even for piecing it really helps a lot to be able to have the fabric pieces flat with nothing hanging over the edge to drag things down.  It even has storage for my knee lift bar (which I've never tried...shhhhh) underneath.

Have a good week everyone.

So sweet to see the picture of your grandmother inspecting your work :) it's beautiful. I've never used my knee lift either and I don't think I really will. I guess I should try it.

I've never used mine either - none of our tables work with it! I couldn't go without my extension table now, you'll love it!

I started piecing hexies a while ago, and have no idea what I will end up with yet, I like what you made with yours!

Oh I love the photo of your grandma's arms and her finger pointed at a perfect point. The bath mat is so pretty and all things pretty are high maintenance! Don't be so hard on yourself about your simple patchwork - it looks great to me and I certainly don't inspect anyone's work!

I struggle with the simplest things, too - I think when there's not as much going on, we see our mistakes more. And oh my gosh, use your knee lift! It's my favorite thing about my machine!

The bath mat looks good, but as you say, it shrunk up. I made one similar awhile back and even with all washed fabrics, it did the same thing, I think it is because towels and fabric shrink up at a different rate, I don't think there is a cure for it.
