Proverbial QAL ~ we have progress!

Listing all of my works in progress last week has really helped me to know what's up and what I should be working on, and hopefully getting finished!  Months ago I joined Krista's quilt along using Denyse Schmidt's 'Proverbial Quilt' pattern.  I decided on a really simple baby quilt with the word "SLEEP", just to try out the letter making process and see if it was something I'd want use to tackle a larger project in the future.  Well, I got the letters pieced quickly and then stalled out.  Finally yesterday I pulled them back out and got to doing the letter spacers and adding a top and bottom border:

In case you're curious, the fabrics are Kona Oyster for spacers & outer borders, Hometown Reunion 'Sally's Skirt' in Graphite for letter background, and various colourful scraps for letters.

Since I have a handy dandy Kona colour card now, I was able to look at actual samples of solids in order to decide how I wanted to finish this quilt.  Aaaaaand I'm coming to a realization that online swatches of solids are rarely accurate!  So take this mock-up with a grain of salt - this is Kona Cloud (which to me looks wildly different on the colour card....) used in the layout I've decided to go with.

The 'Cloud' is ordered and on its way, so now I'll wait and maybe pull out another one of those unfinished projects!

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians.  I hope you're enjoying some yummy turkey this weekend.  Ours is in the oven!

It's going to be lovely!

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! We've got the turkey cooking but I'm really only in it for the stuffing. In fact, I ate all of the sauted celery, onion, and bread crumbs that wouldn't fit into the bird this morning…. :-)
