My Kona Natural arrived (only 10 days from the US, I think this is a new record for me!) so I'm back to plugging away at the Octagonal Orb blocks. Four down, eight to go!
I have to say, piecing the colourful bits was much more enjoyable than all of the trimming, lining up, pinning, pressing, and adding setting triangles is, but I've finished 1/3 of the blocks already so overall not bad.
For fun, here's a view of the back of one of the blocks. I mentioned pressing, right?? It's crazy the amount of pressing involved in these blocks, and you wind up with quite a bit of bulk right at the centre of each orb, which I hope isn't a problem when it comes to quilting.
Back to summer......

oh so worth all the pressing! They look amazing!
These are so beautiful Heather!
They are looking amazing! You are going to have a fabulous quilt Heather!
So pretty!
And summer? What's that?
;o)
They are beautiful!
They're gorgeous!
Word to the wise - quilt around the centers and not through them. I broke 2 needles and three fingernails that way on my spiderweb. Or use slightly larger, sharper needles. That might work.
This quilt is going to be fantastic. I feel it.
these are stunning, I love the colors, the block, I cant wait to see more of this one!
Looking lovely! You are doing a much better job matching your points than I did when making these blocks; they sure are tricking and yours look fab :)
Beautiful piecing Heather. It will be awesome.
I sure like these alot!!!
Just gorgeous! They look amazing, and i love seeing the back of peoples work!
This quilt is going to be gorgeous. The back of your quilt is looking good too! Like seeing those straight seams.
It was worth it -- your blocks look fantastic!
These look great. They are turning out really well. It definitely looks like a lot of fiddly sewing though
These are just gorgeous, Heather!
They look like so much work, wow! What an ambitious summer project.
They are really striking, and the back of the block looks as pretty as the front :)
these are stunning. Look at your beautiful seams!
these look awesome Heather! the picture of the back seams is really cool. it's a lot of work but it'll be worth it!
They're lovely! Just avoid those center bulky bits like the plague when you're quilting, that should work, right?!
These are so very pretty! They do look like a lot of work, but the results are fantastic!
