Finished Projects:
~ I finished the Modern Quarters Baby Quilt this week. It will be going to my local hospital foundation, along with the Kaleidoscope quilt I finished a few weeks ago. The original inspiration for this quilt came from the Modern Halves Quilt, though I ended up taking it in a different direction. I am really happy with this finish!
Ongoing Projects:
~ Chrysalis and Sparkle are still awaiting quilting. My shipment from Connecting Threads (batting and thread) should arrive this week, then I will be underway.
~ Sewing machine cover. I finished the top for this project this week, and in the end am very happy with it, buuuuuuut.....I'm re-thinking it as a cover for my sewing machine. I've decided I don't really love the open sides of a cover this style. Our house is SO dusty for some reason and I really think I need to protect my machine more. So I got to thinking, hmmmm, I wonder if the cover I made for my old Janome would fit? And you know what? It does!! Well, pretty much. Close enough.

But back to the on-point-former-sewing-machine-cover. I ended up needing to trim it quite a bit and add borders in order to square it up, but I think I like it even more bordered than without. I think it will eventually become a mini wall-hanging, probably to be hung near my sewing machine.
I thought this was fun (below pic) - this one little square of Hometown text fabric shows both the city where I was born, as well as the city that I spent a good chunk of my growing up years and where I was married and where our first baby was born. Had to make sure it was included!
~ Pulled out the old Swoon pattern and some white and print flannel that I had, and made one Swoon block. Need a buy a bit more flannel to border it, and will turn it into another baby quilt for the hospital. It will be soft and snuggly, though I must say, flannel creates a LOT of lint in the sewing machine!
Which leads me to.....
~ I ordered something like this:
A mini vacuum attachment set. I hope it actually works and that it is not totally gimicky and useless. I'm determined to take really good care of my new machine!!
~ Google Friend Connect - I posted about how confused I was about this whole thing, and really things are no clearer now than when I wrote that post, but I've decided to just roll with it. Do I want to lose readers? No. So I do hope that those of you who subscribed to my blog via google friend connect who do not have a blogger blog, will consider re-subscribing through Google Reader or Bloglines or whatever other feed reader you prefer. At this point I'm not going to do anything else in particular and will just see how the transition goes. I hope you stick around!

I really love your modern quarters quilt AND your ex-sewing machine cover! What a cute mini!! Please keep us posted on how your little vacuum works!!
Love all your projects, everything looks great, good work!
Your mini quilts are lovely. I know what you mean about the open-sided sewing machine cover, it seems more decorative than useful somehow. Love the mini vacuum too!
I love your modern quarters quilt - it's so bright and gorgeous. Actually, I love all your projects :)
All of your projects are so pretty!
And that mini vacuum is interesting - you'll have to let us know how it works!
What a busy week! Love the idea of a sewing machine vacuum cleaner. I just bought a new Janome and am stunned at how much dust it collects. I might have to get one of those for myself.
I love your sewing machine cover solution! The old one looks great, and the new one will be an awesome wall hanging!
Love love your modern halves, love how its offset like that, and your sewing machine cover turned quilt! great WIPs!!
I have a full cover for my machine as well, and much prefer it. Your on point mini will look great on the wall too. Good save! I must admit I squealed when I saw my home on the fabric too. Used it for a passport cover! Great week of sewing for you, Heather!
everything is just lovely
I love the former sewing machine cover :-) I hope that vacuum attachment works out well! Lint is the worst.
I love that piece with our town names on it... who knew? And I love that dainty print you used for the new Swoon block. That print would make such a cute sun-dress for a little girl... or is it flannel?! That wouldn't be so nice for a sun-dress!

I love your baby quilt! Someone will be getting a definite work of art with that. And yay that you'll have one, too, with your sewing machine cover turned wallhanging, which leaves me wondering where you're originally from. Calgary? Nakusp? Ok, I'm shocked Nakusp made it!
Oh, and from what I can tell the google friend connect only affects people with non-blogspot blogs. They used to be able to add the friend connect widget but will be losing it. So since yours is a blogspot it shouldn't affect you. And google has switched all friend connect subscriptions to just subscriptions, so you'll still get the feed from wordpress, squarespace, etc blogs. Sounds like a not so subtle ploy on google's part to get people to switch to their blogging platform.
Great work, Heather! Glad your sewing machine cover worked.
I love that hometown print too. I have a bit in my stash too. I know where you are from but I'm curious where you grew up. Nakusp? Calgary? :-) I'm just a curious girl.
Where are you donating your baby quilts to?
